The Rationale Quest - Workers and Labor the stepchildren of Philosopy and Religion

The Rationale is really all about you in the Global Economic Arena. It seems Labor and Workers re the "Stepchildren" of Philosophy and Religion and have not kept pace with the assault by Globalism and Free Trade. We also study religion and where many say they can not relate to it in the work day. It is really all about you and your human dignity in the workday and in general. Are Liberals Liberal (LINK)

Exploring Liberalism by Ray Tapajna - from our notes based on Father McQuade SJ JCU course.

Are Liberals really Liberal ?

Most people feel good when they are called liberal about some situation and it easier term to use rather than saying you're objective -as an example.

However liberalism starts out as a contradiction if it is based on the absolute sovereingty of the individual and his entire independence fo God and God's authority. It scales down to just individual freedom and a frail conscience in judgement of any act.

In our times we have see branding take over objectivity. We are currently in wars against terrorism which is only a term and makes our enemies a vague object. In the world of commerce we now have branding that no longer really reveals who makes the product.
Some companies have only have a brand name left and use others to make their product based on the lowest bids while the user or consumer things the brand and product are one.

In the field of politics. we label someone or some group of people as terrorists and condemn whole groups of people under the this title. Conservatives have a bad habit of branding things as Socialism without any distinctions. Liberals do the same in a different way. They brand and classify things relating to their branding of separation of church and state without andy distinctions.

However the term conservative is more restrictive in its scope. The term "liberal" is not . It encompasses a mass of tought processes and is a very convenient word to use and brand things. The term "liberal" is probably the most confused term in use. Its "liberality" includes all kinds of inaccurate thinking. Yet the word "liberal" remains a very attractive term. Everyone feels complimented when called liberal because, we think the the person who describes us this way are saying something nice about us. Yet both the person who attaches the term to us and the person complimented most likely could not really define the situation if the frame of reference - being liberal .

In the popular mind, too, liberalism is identified with a belief in democracy. As a matter of fact liberalism and true democracy cannot exist too long with each other.

It is a paradox and liberalism may be the base of the entire denial of human liberty and may be even totalitarian if it's power is unlimited.

Dr. Don F. Sarda Salvany in his book "What is Liberalism" cites the following as the core of liberalism.

1. The absolute sovereignty of the individual in his entire independence of God and God's authority.
2. The absolute sovereiginty of society in its entire independence of everything which does not proceed from itself. It denies any base to their structure of thought but their own.

3. Absolute civil sovereignty in the implied right of a people to make their own laws in entire independence and utter disregard of any other criteria than the popular will expressed at the polls. We all know that history shows what is popular may not be the right thing to do as with slavery and women's rights.

4. Absolute freedom of thought in politics, morals, or in religion and the unrestrained liberty of the press. ( including pornography - morals based on age classifications )

While the people who call themselves liberal would scarcely recognize this description, they would find in any real search of the truth these principles are really the basic ones in their beliefs and teaching. Liberals are staunch defenders of the doctrine of the separation of Church and State and must ignore history, tradition and the ultimate source of existence to enact their laws. They have to deny any external that played a part in history and tradition that fashioned goodness and morality. In the end it is not liberal and is a very restrictive measurement to guide life. It allows evil elements to be part of the whole without any or few borders of control. The liberal will say everything is ok as long as it doe not hurt another person. In everything, it may be a matter of degrees, but every action taken by a human being usually does hurt another in varying degrees. In abortion, one party in a party of three, - mother , father and child take over the control of life with the innocent third party - the baby - having no say in the process. This is far from being liberal. And it depicts an very obvious totalitarian thought process. In essence, all you have to do is to undefine life and existence - leave it out of the picture - and you can do anything you want with the object that is undefined or ignoring its potential existence as a reality.

We will continue exploring liberalism in the next several posts in politics and branding life
