Feed the hungry first

Our economy based on making money on money instead making things continues to burn out. Lately the fire seems to be spreading but the story is not new. ... - Tapsearch Com

A summary of blogs, articles and sites by Tapsearch Com and Ray Tapajna ... and "If this is a good economy, I would hate to see a bad one",

I get paid to bail out free trade. It is now a federal trickle down economy with those who lost everything not being bailed out

Our article first appeared on the Federal Trade Comission site in 1998 with a list of about 33 problems. See

Fed Trade Site about Made in USA - FTC: Made In The USA Ray Tapajna--P894219. KEEP THE MADE IN THE USA LABEL ... IF THIS IS A GOOD ECONOMY, I WOULD HATE TO SEE A BAD ONE! ...

We upgraded the list twice since then with not many changes needed. Today the list of issues still remain with somethings having an increase in problems but for the main list everything is about the same.

Back in 1998, a group petitioned President Clinton to increase the funding for feeding the hungry in the USA. They said there were 40 million American who needed more food desparately. Nothing was done about it then. Nothing was done about it when President Bush took office and not much more happened after President Obama took office.

And whenever the Conservatives take power, they want to look over the programs to see if they are worth keeping. In this case the liberals with the exception of President Clinton want to do more.

Recently, a group of Catholic professors urged House Speaker John Boehner to reconsider cuts in social welfare programs. The new working poor class and a hidden underclass need help.

With this happening, others start complaining about the church getting involved in politics. With so many Americans now living in a silent depression, the matter of who comes forth to help the poor does not matter.
Rep. Dennis Kucinich , a liberal, told Rep Jim Jordan, a conservative, that we do not have to disrupt service while politicians weed out the problems or see if the programs are " encouraging the wrong kind of behavior." If I had the opportunity, I would ask Rep. Jim Jordan about the silent depression no one seems to want to talk about. Apparently, people like Jim Jordan do not want to face the realities of our times.

The poverty threshold for a family of four with two children was $21,756 in 2009 and most likely is higher today.

Basically, the level of self-sufficiency that a household needs to meet its basic needs without publich or private assistance is considered to be about twice the povery threshold of $21,756 or about $43,000 per year.

In our state, at least 25 percent of the citizens live at or below the federal poverty rate In rural Morgan County in Ohio, 51 percent live below the self- sufficiency level.

In discussing these things not much is said about all those missing in action from any kind of reporting and I wonder how big this group is.

You would think the politicians would first ask how and why things are so bad. Ever since the NAFTA and GATT trade agreements were passed in 1994, things have consistently grown worst. None of the politicians want to point to the fact that free trade came and took away what it took a lifetime for many to accumulate.

When times were better, only one spouse had to work and it made news in the neighborhood when a mother had to look for work. It made news when a home went up for sale and it made even more news when some neighbor lost their home due to a foreclosure. If you told someone back then that personal and businesses bankruptcies would break records, they would not believe you.

Back then they would question what a person did wrong do lose so much of their belongings but today nothing is said because all the losses are taken for granted.

We write about human nature being on trial and how consumers wear two hats. One hat is worn to find the cheapest price the other hat should be put on when they relate it to who has to go hungry because of what a price of something is. When we get up in the morning and eat our breakfast and put on our clothes, we should take a moment and think who is going hungry today or losing out filling our needs. The old biblical adage should apply - Do unto others as you would have them do to you - but unfortunately, most of us do not think this way.
