Church's experiences with heresy - Lessons of history from notes based of Father McQuade Modern Heresy course

Observers of the heresies that challenged the Catholic Church can find consolation and encouragement in dealing with heresies of our times. Observer can see that every heresy h is seeded with germs of its own corruption. In studying the histories of heresies, we see heresies come and go, build up and fall to pieces one after the another. The process may be slow and long delayed but dissolve it will for history shows that truth alone is eternal.

The physical, political, and moral power behind error no matter how strong it is, is not sufficient to keep the heresy alive. Sometime to the natural mind, it seemed hopeless for the Church to defend itself, but even then history shows that a rescue comes often in the nick of time and often from unexpected sources. ( We hold Globalism as a real heresy and know through unexpected sources will exposed it as a real heresy. Globalism has even infected our Catholic universities in speculative movements. Plus the business schools have been separated from the moral foundation of the Church. )

From revelation, the Catholic knows that the Church cannot go out of existence and history also demonstrates this in the way the Catholic Church held out during the many challenges it faced through heresies. The way the Church challenged these heresies is a practical argument too , in support of the Church being eternal .

The Church also found relief through the external forces of its members who stood their ground no matter what. So often with corruption in high places , some entity came forward to save the day and in the process the Church purified itself in the high places too.

The challenges of heresies also demonstrate the power of the Holy Spirit coming to the rescue and using His faithful followers to break any hold a heresy may have. Sometimes the Spirit even used powers inspite of the actions of man.

History also tells us to be aware of the background behind any heresy. It shows that many heresies do not evolve from only speculative movements but also from the political, social and economic forces. ( Today, Globalism comes based on humanism which is out of sync with real human nature. It is corrupt because it treats human beings as commodities to be traded in a global economic arena. )

G. K. Chesterton had it right when he said the modern world is full of Christian virtues gone mad. The virtures have gone mad because they have been isolated from each other and are wandering alone in a sea created by the state acting out policies as an authority above the Church. ( Today workers have no voice in the process of globalization and free trade has made human beings the primary commodities being traded. Workers are put on a global trading block to compete with one another for the same jobs. Human dignity has been thrashed and the Church is still trying to find itself in the process. The Pope response to the Bewildered New World comes in the form of his encyclical - Charity is truth . Ray Tapajna Chronicles reviews it at Tapsearch Com Hopefully, all forces and enties dedicated to the common good will meet the challenge.
